Catherine (Cat) Garcia
Catherine (Cat) graduated from the University of Manitoba in 2018 with a Bachelors in Kinesiology, Athletic Therapy. She immediately went on to pursue her private practice in Athletic Therapy for 4 years, gaining a wealth of orthopaedic experience with a wide variety of clients, from post-surgical total hip/knee replacements, to university athletes.
Cat's next career adventure took her to First Steps Wellness Centre, where she spent 2 years in a neurorehabilitation setting, specializing in activity-based therapy for people with spinal cord injuries and other neurological disabilities like multiple sclerosis (MS) and brain injuries.
Cat is certified in Functional Movement Systems, in both the Functional Movement Screening 1 & 2 (FMS) and Selective Functional Movement Assessment (SFMA). She has a special interest in senior fitness, and has previously hosted hip and knee replacement classes, and teaches senior group fitness classes on the side.
Cat has a strong background in injury assessment, treatment, rehabilitation planning and patient education. Cat has a kind and caring presence and the ability to connect with people through exercise and movement.
Outside of the clinic, you can find Cat either running or walking with her dog, at spin class or dance rehearsal, or lifting weights. You can also coax her to venture outside by offering a latte and book shopping.
