Vestibular Physiotherapy

Our ability to perceive head movement, stay upright, and see clearly when in motion is all thanks to the vestibular system. We are pleased to announce we offer vestibular rehabilitation at Tuxedo Physiotherapy.  Vestibular Rehabilitation is a research-based approach where individualized techniques are used to help the brain compensate for problems in the vestibular system.

Vestibular rehab requires post-graduate training, and is mainly performed by physiotherapists, however occupational therapists or audiologists can provide it as well.

Vertigo or dizziness can occur for a variety of reasons.  Often vertigo occurs when our inner ear is not functioning properly.  The inner ear is made up of structures and nerves that help us maintain balance.  A variety of conditions can cause us to feel dizzy or unbalanced.  Vestibular rehab can help individuals experiencing:

  • Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV)

  • Concussions

  • Post-Concussion Syndrome

  • Cervical (neck) Vertigo

  • Vestibular Migraines
