Bone is living tissue, and as such, it is constantly being broken down and regenerated quietly throughout our lifespan. Osteoporosis is not a normal process of aging, but rather it is a disease characterized by low bone mass and deterioration of bone quality, predisposing one to fractures. These fractures can occur anywhere on the skeleton but the most common osteoporotic fragility fracture sites are the wrist, the hip and the spine.
